Dave Watson

Dave teaches at NUA on BSc User Experience Design, BA Graphic Communication, BA Graphic Design, and BA Design for Publishing.

His practice explores experiences of play, learning, narrative, and representation, through the lens of technology as a cultural form. 

He is currently studying the user experience of educational digital technologies used by adult learners and children in homeschool and traditional school communities.

Commercial projects have included web development and graphic design, video production, motion design, and sound design, for creative agencies and production companies including CTVC, ChannelFlip Media and Dinosaur.

2018 The Demon’s Head (VFX and editing), animated short film for CTVC/Truetube. Nominated for a BAFTA Children’s Award and Learning On Screen’s Educational Film Award.

2016 A Hail of Bullets : Moving Beyond Powerpoint and Towards Visual Storytelling (Presentation) John Beacham Teaching Conference, Goldsmiths, University of London.

2011-2014 Director, Animator & Sound Designer for Channelflip Media. Productions included David Mitchell’s Soapbox and Harry Hill’s Little Internet Show.

2010 New Light Stir (Co-Director), live-action short film.

2007 080 (Director) CGI-animated short film. International festival screenings, British Animation Awards touring programme.
